With Whisper Strings you get a broad selection of whisper quiet sustains and beautiful moving textures, designed to give you everything you need to get that contemporary “Scandi Noir” sound and beyond.

Whisper Sustains

The sustains are achingly beautiful, and full of intricate details that lends a certain fragility and humanity to your scores. You get three different emotional intensities, from a beguiling whisper quiet “ppp” with the bow barely touching the string, to a more robust, but still intimate “p”. Additionally, all of these come in three distinct tonal colours; from the bright and open normale (without mute), to the silky smooth con sordino (with mute) and finally the whisper quiet super con sordino (with a large rubber practice mute), possibly one of the softest string sounds ever sampled.

Moving Textures

The textures are soft, but always living, breathing and moving, making them perfect for cinematic underscore. Some are frenetic while others are make-me-cry beautiful, and they are all performed in a rhythmically random, improvised manner, so the texture is never static.

Of course all the textures come in both con sordino and normale variations, and you even have the option of smoothly crossfading between the two, something that would be impossible to do in real life, but is highly expressive.

Continuously evolving

Powered by Soundbox, Whisper Strings allows you to load and blend up to four articulations in a single patch, creating entirely new and rich textures. But blending is only the beginning.

Thanks to Soundbox powerful morphing engine, you can morph seamlessly between layers. So now you can go from a whisper quiet sustain into the beautiful vibrato pulses – or any other sound you wish. You can even let Soundbox do the morphing for you with the movement feature, which can of course be tempo synced to your DAW.

For composers, this opens up entirely new creative possibilities: It’s a living palette of expressive string textures.
