This library was designed with one thing in mind: to propel your music forward with a collection of great sounding energetic shorts – something the viola excels at. Occupying the space between the violin and the cello, this library brings drive and energy to your accompaniment parts, but also sounds great as a virtuosic lead line.

The crisp and sharp spiccato is great for fast and energetic lines and accompaniment, while the feathered shorts sounds stunning for slower and more gentle music. All samples are derived from performances to capture real musical energy and motion in each sample, and features true up- and down-bow round robins for ultimate realism.

Viola-moto is designed to work well with the built in arpeggiator in Soundbox, which turns this library into an inspiration machine, always guaranteed to spark new ideas.

PERFORMANCE BASED SAMPLING

A lot of work went into capturing the liveliest and most musical samples possible, so all samples in Viola-Moto are performance based, which means that each sample was recorded as the last note of a mini musical phrase. This preserves the natural energy and flow compared to static one-note-at-time-sampling.

TRUE DOWN AND UP BOW ROUND ROBINS

To further enhance realism, all the round robins are programmed so that a down-bow sample is always followed by an up-bow sample. This greatly enhances realism and makes repeated notes sound great.

SPICCATO AND BRUSHED

Spiccato: crisp and short, ideal for fast, virtuosic lines or driving accompaniment backgrounds. It has a huge dynamic range with 5 velocity layers and 8 true down-up bow round robins.
Brushed: a longer brushed articulation, almost like a mini swell. Ideal for slower and more gentle music. It has a little bit of vibrato and sounds fantastic when playing slow pulsing chords. Features 4 velocity layers and 5 round robins.

INSPIRATION MACHINE

The sampling techniques used in this library makes it ideal for use with the built in arpeggiator in Soundbox. Not only is this a huge time saver, it is also fun and turns Viola-Moto into a little inspiration engine. Each of the 4 layers has it’s own arpeggiator, so try loading up the spiccato in one layer with a faster tempo, and the brushed in another with the arpeggiator set to a slower tempo, and play around with the different arpeggiator modes – instant inspiration! For extra fun, try turning on the chord generator, which feeds directly into the arpeggiator, but be sure you have enough time, because this is seriously addictive.

BUILT FOR SOUNDBOX

Viola-Moto is built for Audiomoderns sampler Soundbox, which also runs on iPad so you can work on the go. Viola-Moto comes with a FLAC version as well, optimised for use on the iPad. Soundbox is incredibly easy to use and features four sample layers, each with its own FX chain, modulators, chord generator and arpeggiator. The vector allows you to crossfade between the layers, which can be automated and tempo synced with movements.
